SAMPLING SITES

Page1| Page2

Once the sampling sites have been selected they will be located and marked on a 7.5 Minute USGS Quad. map. The site location map and a Stream Station Establishment Form for each site will be submitted to the MPCA. A copy of the Stream Station Establishment Form is in Appendix A. The MPCA will digitize the map to accurately establish the station's latitude and longitude readings and the river mileage to station from the downstream confluence with the Red River. This mileage will be used to assign an official station number. The MPCA will also compile detailed individual station descriptions which will be sent to the Roseau River Watch Program and then to the responsible sampling/analysis group. This process, along with an approved monitoring plan, will qualify the data obtained as eligible for entry into the EPA's

NOTE: Identify sampling sites by river name and river miles, not by school name and site number.

Sampling Frequency: Samples should be collected monthly from spring run-off (April) to fall freeze-up (November) as safety considerations allow. A schedule of sampling dates is set up at the beginning of the year. Sampling dates should be at approximately the same time each month. On sampling dates the samples should be collected from each site at approximately the same time of day to keep everything as uniform as possible from one month to the next.
