Providing Consistency
A goal of this project will be to incorporate a basin-wide protocol for watershed and environmental science education strategies linked to state, provincial, and national science and information technology outcomes and content standards.
The design of the project provides for integrating diversity and equal access to resources and information sharing among the six project sites providing a benchmark for future program expansion. A basin-wide website and information sharing procedure will be established so that participating schools have a format to follow when designing information for sharing on individual River Watch websites.
Internet access will be connected through the Red River Basin Decision Information Network (RRBDIN) website. The site is a basin-wide repository of data and information for the Red River of the North Watershed, developed for the International Joint Commission by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Houston Engineering and managed by the International Water Institute.
The RRBDIN serves as an information portal for the Watersheds educators, resource managers, decision-makers and citizens. The six schools will serve as citizen scientists depositing information for basin-wide use on the RRBDIN.
