Satellite Transmitters

The canoes are equipped with transmitters. The transmitter starts sending signals to the satellites. The satellites collect the data and retransmit it to the Argos centers for processing.  The watershed center retrieves the data, builds a aerial view image and provides these information online.

These transmitters are produced by North Star.

Platform Transmitter Terminal

The transmitters offer long operational life, high location accuracy, programmable duty cycles with multiple seasons, integrated sensors, and package sizes ranging from 16-120 grams. Conventional VHF transmitters with duty cycles controlled by the PTT can be built into the PTT. Sensors available for integration with all North Star PTTs include temperature, activity, atmospheric pressure, battery voltage, duty cycle season, transmission counter, and accelerometer.
