Procedure/Outline

MOdel telling a Native American legend to students Read the story. When God Made the Dakotas by Jim Kessler to a a group of 5 students. Discuss art of storytelling; look at audience. speak slowly and with a clear voice. use motions of hands. expression, and know your part of the story very well. Have students divide the story into 5 parts. one for each studnet. Have students reread many times and plan what they will say. Have group practice parts orally many times. Present to class and other class-rooms. If one student forgets or needs help, another student can help. Read story to student who is learning the part.

Assessments

Students will tell the story to the class. Rubrics will be used to assess listed skills.
