Procedure/Outline

Prior to this activity a SEND Trunk will need to be order from the State Historical Society. I will use the Miltitary one for an example in this particular lesson. Day 1 An Introduction and basic background information must be gone over by the teacher when the trunk arrives and you can set your objectives accordingly. Introduce the topic and information to the children from the binder that is appropriate for your grade level. Day 2 Divide the class into groups of 3 or 4. Give each group a tray and have them use the binder or the computer to find basic information about the contents contained in the tray. Have the students put it into their own words and tell them they will be presenting this material to other students. Day 3 Have the students present what they have found to you so you can evaluate the material. Give suggestions or help out where it is needed. Day 4 Students present the material to the class.  

Modifications/Adatption/Extensions

Have the students present to other classrooms, or the younger classes as well. Give each student an item to present if the trunk allows. Have the students dress the part or use the items to add to a creative demonstration.  

Assessments

Accuracy and overall effort in the material presented by the students. Also a rubric to explain the overall grading process.  

Other Comments

I would make sure that all students would play an active role in the presentation.
