Students will identify the location of the field trip by the sights and sounds of the organisms present.

Procedure/Outline

Students will listen to a varity of bird songs from grassland inhabitants or wetland species. Using only what they heard, students will decide what type of habitat the birds represent. Students will be given pictures of the birds and asked to choose the correct one when the bird songs are repeated.

Assessments

Successful matching of a species with its song.  

Other Comments

This activity will be done as a large group activity so that students may draw upon each others expertise. Even though some students may not be able to identify the song of each species, they probably will not have trouble distinquishing between the two habitats.
