Procedure/Outline

Observation by hearing. Each team will listen for sounds outside the school. Listen for small sounds you usually tune out. Predict how many sounds you will hear in a minute. When timekeeper says go, listen for one minute. As you listen, list every sound you hear. For every sound, name what might have made the sound. For example: hum = air conditioner, buzz = bee

Modifications/Adatption/Extensions

Try going to different parts of the school and make hearing observations.

Assessments

Each group will share with other groups what sounds they heard and could identify. Compare what sounds were the same and which were different.
