Objectives

To build a watershed and learn about toxic runoff into lakes and stream. Students will develop an understanding of efidence, models and explanation, and of the effects of environmental changes.

10 Minutes

Procedure/Outline

1. Make a watershed 2. Draw a 5 cm border on a piece of papter to make a base. 3. Make a mountain. Loosely crumple aluminum foil and place on the paper. 4. Tape it down to the flat base. 5. With a blue soluable pen, draw where you think the river will flow down the slopes. 6. Make it rain in your watershed by spraying water on the top of the "mountain peaks. 7. Describe how the water moves in your watershed. 

Modifications/Adatption/Extensions

use wax paper or crumbled paper to form the mountains. 

Assessments

Students will demonstrate experiment to a partner and then complete the drain game with younger students.
