Procedure/Outline |
| The students will be shown how a digital camera works and how to take good pictures Their assignment is to go out to "nature" and take take pictures. Pictures can be of things like flowers, water, rocks, trees, sunsets etc. The possibilities are endless. When the students return they will be shown how to use crop, alter and enlarge pictures. Each student will then frame their picture and take it home. |

Assessments |
| A variety of assessments can be done with this activitiy using teacher disgression. A set of pictures can be turned in with a specific theme. Each student can turn in one picture that has been digititally altered a variety of ways to show their ability to master the various functions on a camera. |
Other Comments |
| We have used this in our summer science class and we are finding that the students have a tremendous "eye" for nature photography. They look at nature differently when taking pictures. They look for the subtle things like lighting, shadows, shapes etc. It has been a real success in our situation. |
