Objectives

Students will
1) identify changes in state of water that enable water to move through the water cycle, 2) describe the water cycle.

Materials Needed

Audio sounds of water ; copy of Water Cycle Journey

Time Requirement

Prep: 10 minutes; Activity: 20 minutes 

Procedure/ Outline

Warm-up: Have students diagram or write a description of the water cycle
Activity:
1) Ask students for thoughts on travel through the water cycle.
2) Journey Prep (Listen quietly, use their imagination.)
3) Begin music. Read script "Water Cycle Journey" Wrap-up: Ask for impressions. Describe journey diagram

Modifications /Adaptions/ Extensions

Draw pictures of imagined water journey or water place or cycle. Describe other sounds of water; example: thunder and lightning

Assessment

1) Identify or draw pictures of the seasons
2) Sort pictures into seasons
3) Design and ???? season collage
4) Compare appearance of water in each season

Other Comments

Students can reflect on the music of water and listen to other music actually written about water; The Seasons - Vivaldi, Water Music - Handel, Fountains of Rome - Respighi, The Blue Danube - Strauss, The Moldau - Smetana, Oh, Shenandoah - trad., etc
