Objectives

Students will develop their ability to distinguish between chronological periods of time and historical events, and periods of history through observation and use of resources

Standards Addressed

Social Studies # 1 - Nature and Scope of History 8.1.1; Social Studies #4 - Social Studies Resources 8.4.1

Materials Needed

Photos of museum displays, photo of single items from each display, Internet access, reference books, fliers from various museums from around the state of North Dakota

Time Requirement

1 - 2 class periods

Procedure/ Outline

"Confused Curator" has bumped his head on a a Red River cart. He has wandered through the Pembina County Museum taking one item form each display thinking it belonged to the next display. Students will study each photo of the various displays and then view photos of the single items. They will determine which item belongs where while determining the period of time the display represents. Once the missing item has been returned to its display, students will find out more about it
