Objectives

Recognize the presence of water within each season

Materials Needed

Old children's' nature magazines, scissors, glue, construction paper, tape

Time Requirement

Prep Time - 30 minutes; Activity time - 50 minutes

Procedure/ Outline

1. Discuss different seasons and describe how each involve water (e.g., snow, rain, hail, puddles)
2. Look through magazines; find and cut out pictures of the seasons - look for pictures of water images. (Students could also draw pictures.) Divide paper into quarters; in each quarter make a collage of seasonal pictures. Discuss water in each season. From a new sheet of construction paper cut 4 window shutters. Lay shutters over the picture collages. When the shutters are opened the students can see the season

Assessment

Identify or draw pictures. Sort pictures into seasons. Design a House of Seasons collage

Other Comments

Compare the appearance of water in each season. Investigate how angles of the earth's axis and rotation around the sun causes the seasons
