To learn how to interpret data, to research on internet, present and defend a viewpoint.

Time Requirement

2 weeks prep time, debate 30 minutes, debrief 15 min.

Procedure/outline

1 class period each week to gather data. The rest is on their own time. Debate in classroom setting. Debrief students on how well they did. Discussion on topic/improvement of the debate.

Modifications/Adaptions/ Extensions

Can be done in conjunction with a local official as a guest speaker or someone from the River Watch project.

Assessment

Discussion/explanation of importance of water quality.
