Objectives

Students will compare & contrast the quality of their cities drinking water to US Guildelines & Bottled Water Guidlines.

Standards Addressed

Materials Needed

Healthy Water Healthy People pg 210, computer access, compare & contrast graphic organizer

Time Requirement

2 days (50 minutes periods)

Procedure/outline

Activity 1: Students will predict for each category if their city's levels will be lower or higher than USA & FDA requirements. Activity 2: Students will fill in the graphic organizer with information from their city's water quality report. Activity 3: Students will note differences or similarities & re-examine their predictions.

Modifications/Adaptions/ Extensions

On the charts, important information can be highlighted or color coded & the graphic organizer can have more information filled in.

Assessment

Formal through the completion of a graphic organizer.

Other Comments

City water quality tables should be available from the city government.
