Objectives

Students will learn terms and definitions associated with wetlands that will build a foundation for understanding & appreciating ND wetlands.

Standards Addressed

Materials Needed

Pencils, student pg. 20, Teachers word list vocab. answers & mysterious sentence answer. Overhead.

Time Requirement

vaious 15 min. periods (until done)

Procedure/outline

Write the words on the board. Students group them by characteristics. Students share within group (use glossary pg 133). Define wetlands-students write. Conclusion: A wetland is an area that has water-logged soil, water-loving plants, and has water for varing lengths of time and may not have water during a drought.

Modifications/Adaptions/ Extensions

Read releant magazine articles about ND wetlands i.e. National Geographic.

Assessment

Written paragraph describing a wetland.
