Objectives

Students will learn wetland terms through the use of a word search & classroom discussion.

Materials Needed

pencils, worksheet, vocabulary list, overhead

Time Requirement

20-30 minutes

Procedure/outline

Write vocabulary list on the board. Class discussion about terms. Have the students write & share definitions of a wetland & wetland types. Define a wetland. Handout word search student page. Have students locate words from vocabulary list. Allow time to complete the student page. Closure: wetland is an area that has water logged soil, water-loving plants, & has water for varying lengths of time & may not have water during drought years. Have each student write his or her definition of a wetland. Have each student search a magazine or newspaper article that us the terms found in the word search.
