Objectives

Students will gain an understanding of the wingspan or birds in comparison to their own arm span.

Standards Addressed

Materials Needed

3 1/2 x 4 1/2 colored paper, bird pictures, bird name labels, glue, hold punch, 41 grommets, 4m lightweight rope, 85 small zip ties, tape measure.

Time Requirement

20 minutes

Procedure/outline

1) The wing string will already be prepared. 2) Students will spread out their arms holding onto the string and find their wing span. 3) Students will read about the animal they match up with. 4) Students will further research on the internet the animals they correspond to.

Modifications/Adaptions/ Extensions

Students will first "guess" their "wing span". Students will find more pictures of their birds & color them to life.

Assessment

Student will further research "their bird" by finding out 5 other facts about their particular bird.
