Objectives

Students will be able to identify characteristics of a prairie restoration project.

Time Requirement

1 hr/30 minutes prep for debate, 15 minutes for debate

Procedure/outline

See if F-M has a landscaping company who specializes in Prairie Restoration-get to come in to speak. Gather area photos of people using this practice. Talk about the significance to our water supply and the impact this would have if everyone within one block of your school building took this on as a practice instead of green grass. Have students debate the issue.

Modifications/Adaptions/ Extensions

Invite another grade level in for the debate then have them stand and go to the side they believe in; they should be ready to defend their choice!

Assessment

Check for accurate information in the debate or pre/post mini test on prairie restoration facts.
