Objectives

Students will use map skills to learn why and where wetlands exist. Students will learn the relationship between wetlands and water bird habitat.

ND highway map, student page map pg27 Wetlands Discovery Guide, paper/pencil, sheets of accetate

Time Requirement

25-50 minutes

Procedure/outline

1) Review - a)what is a wetland b)how ND's landscape was influenced by glacier activity 2)Activity a)Student use a map to locate major geographic features; river, lakes, and cities b)locate areas with many lakes-ask why? c)with the help of teacher's overhead, acertain copy, student will mark boundaries of physiographic regions 4)students will conclude that the geologic processes influenced & provided habitat for animals.
