Objectives

Student will sort different varieties of prairie plants and graph results.

Standards Addressed

Materials Needed

hula-hoop, tally sheet, tape, blank paper for graph, pencil

Time Requirement

40 minutes

Procedure/outline

1. Student will work in a group. Each group will put hula-hoop on prairie area and pick one leaf of every prairie plant found. Then each group will count the number of each prairie plants found. 2. Each group will use tally chart material to make a graph exemplifying the plant diversity within the hula-hoop.

Modifications/Adaptions/ Extensions

"Hula-hoop" a lawn and compar finding. Discuss as a class.

Assessment

Each group will have their tally chart & graph mathc based on plant diversity int he prairie.
