Objectives

Students will observe & collect a variety of plant life. Students will sort the plant life by either seed, leaf, bark, or other.

Standards Addressed

Ziploc bag (to collect plant samples-gallon size). List of items (pictures included) to search for. 12"x18" white construction paper. Pictures (or real examples) of Plant Life.

1 hour (not including the bus ride) |
Procedure/outline
|
1. Teacher will show pictures of the types of plant life to look for. 2. Travel to the predetermined site. (I use a golf course.) 3. Students walk through the area and collect their samples. 4. When arriving back in the classroom, students will sort their findings on a piece of 12"x18" paper. |
Modifications/Adaptions/ Extensions
|
Students could create an art piece by gluing their found objects to a piece of poster board. Students could label different objects. |
Assessment
|
Teacher will check to see that the plant life has been sorted correctly. |
