cotton balls, scents - 1 scent for each territory (peppermint, lemon, anise, etc.), playground area, covered containers, scratch paper, marker to label cards

1. Marked off lg. area into territories (i.e. playground, etc) 2. Apply scent to cotton balls & place in seperate covered containers. 3. Just prior to conducting the activity, mark each territory with differnt scented balls. 4. Place 4 seperate pieces of scratch paper labeled with each component of habitat within each territory. 5. The playground represents a wetland. Divide students into territories evenly. 6. Assign each group a scent, give 5 to 10 minutes to located the territory with their matched scent. 7. Have them locate component cards for their territory. Ask about personal needs of their territory-"Survival" |
