Objectives

Students will begin to identify differnt natural wildflowers and grasses that are common to North Dakota.

Standards Addressed

Materials Needed

Prairie wildflowers and grasses pictures

Time Requirement

Students should play this several times for 10 minutes to practice (before a competition?)

Procedure/outline

Find pictures or cut apart the guidebook from Prairie Wetlands site in Fergus Falls or on internet. Place picture on one side of index card and glue. Place proper name and interesting facts on the other side. Students could use as a flashcard to the other student or self. Add more cards to the pile once identification comes more quickly.

Modifications/Adaptions/ Extensions

Could be used as a station activity. Add trees, animals, etc. Make a memory type card game. Make several of each type of wildflower to play "Go See in ND", a version of Go Fish.

Assessment

Students could sit down at a computer where teacher has amini slide show of 6-10 different wildflower/grasses. Students could # a paper and write down the name of the picture shown.
