indes cards, tape-each card labeld with a different plant or animal life form, 1/2 the cards with a picture, 1/2 the cards with the written name (i.e. one card with a picture of a cat tail, one card with the words "cat tail")
Time Requirement
one class period |
Procedure/outline
Teacher tapes a card face-up, one on each student's back (without student seeing). Students need to match up in pairs, picture with words, without saying the actual plant or animal name to find out what card they each have on their own backs. Students may ask questions-Am I a plant? Do I get very tall? Do I grow in water? Do I fly? etc. to get clues from other students until all people believe they are matche up. |
Modifications/Adaptions/ Extensions
For lower ability students-match picture to picture. As extension or modification for higher students, match up larva/pupa with adult or seed to flower, etc. |
Assessment
Discussion-what seemed to be best questions to ask? What gave you most defining clues to your identity? Were words or pictures more easily described? etc. |
