Objectives

Students will understand the importance of conserving water.

Standards Addressed

Materials Needed

Pretend toothbrushes, timer, 2 small buckets, measuring cups, large piece of paper

Time Requirement

15 to 20 minutes

Procedure/outline

1. Set the timer for 2 minutes. 2. Turn on the bathroom faucet and everyone pretends to bruth their teeth. 3. Collect the water coming out of the faucet into the bucket. 4. Repeat this procedure again, only turn the faucet 'off' when you are just brushing. Only turn the faucet 'on' when you need to rinse. 5. Measure how much water is in each bucket and record your findings.

Assessment

Students will be able to explain why we should turn the faucet off.
