Objectives

Students will learn to be more aware of water conservation.

Materials Needed

Watch, bathtub/shower

Time Requirement

15-20 minutes at home

Procedure/outline

1) Students will hypothesize whether a 15-20 minute shower or bath takes more water. 2) Students will time selves in the shower with the bath stopper in and make the level inthe bathtub for X minutes. 3) Next day students will run bath tub for X minutes and mark level. 4) Students will see if their hypothesis was correct or not.

Modifications/Adaptions/ Extensions

1) Students will run water for less time & mark the level in the bathtub to determine the amount of water this saved. 2) Students will vary the shower heads or use other bathrooms in their house to check for variability.

Assessment

Used as an extra credit project or students could make a graph of the amount of water they used & the amount of time they showered.
