Objectives

Rapid bioassessment of aquatic arganisms. Compare streams. Collect, sort, analyze. Determine a streams water quality.

Materials Needed

Plastic tubs, aquarium nets, sorting trays, calculators, water, paper clips, beads (6 colors), pennies, rubber bands.

Time Requirement

2 x 50 min

Procedure/outline

1. Put pre-determined numbers of above items in tubs. 2. Have one student close eyes & dip for 20 minutes. 3. Sort all items captured. 4. As a group, fill out data sheets I, II, III

Modifications/Adaptions/ Extensions

We will do this activity prior to actually sampling our rivers.
