To identify what plant and animal life surrounds our area

Materials Needed

Nature books, nature trails, field glasses, transportation, record sheets

Time Requirement

One 50-minute class period

Procedure/ Outline

Take students across a one-mile trail identifying plant and animal life. Introduce habitat of each of these life cycles. Record the different numbers of species identified on this trail. Compare data to previous walks

Modifications /Adaptions/ Extensions

Continue these nature walks at different times of the year to monitor changes in numbers

Assessment

Matching plant and animal life with North American plant and animal life
