Objectives

To study and learn the ecosystem of macro-invertebrates

Dip nets, collect jars, transportation, rope

Time Requirement

Two 50-minute class periods

Procedure/ Outline

The students will travel to the location sited for this project. The students will be put in groups of four. Each group will collect producers, decomposers, and consumers to be placed in their ecosystem. Once the ecosystem has been collected, three different types of macro-invertebrates and two aquatic plants need to be identified

Modifications /Adaptions/ Extensions

1. Special needs students identify one of each type.
2. Use jars as collection containers.
3. Record the changes in the ecosystem during the year

Assessment

The completion of a healthy ecosystem collected the identification of 3 and 2 ecosystem contributors
