Objectives

Identify the parts of a ground water system. Compare movement of water through diverse substrates. Relate different types of land uses to potential ground water contamination

Materials Needed

Ground water trunk from the ND State Water Commission, Bismarck, ND

Time Requirement

45 minutes

Procedure/ Outline

Set up ground water model and explain model to students. Discuss terms, locations of individual parts, functions of parts and working system. Introduce pollution source and assign students to determine cause and effect of pollutant

Modifications /Adaptions/ Extensions

Make a diagram of ground water system to be used as possible "identify parts" worksheet, to show cause and effect of adding pollutant

Assessment

Identify the parts of a ground water system. Give students diagram of ground water system with pollutant, have them show and discuss what may happen
