Objectives
Recognize the rate of condensation and evaporation in the water cycle. Relate
the water cycle to areas around the world

Materials Needed
Heat source, cooking pans, ice, duct tape, large jars with lids (2 per group),
water, sand, rocks, ecosystem items, oven mitts, copies of water cycle in a jar
(page 204) and observation sheet (p 205)
Time Requirement
Set Up: 30 minutes
Activity: 2 class periods (45 minutes)
Procedure/ Outline
Class discussion of water cycle and world ecosystem differences. Teacher
demonstration with student observations of evaporation and condensation.
Students in groups to do experiment water cycle in a jar. Students adapt their
jar to a world ecosystem (do research to develop this)

Assessment
The students will share how their world ecosystem shares water globally
